Police beat Feb. 3
Trespass charge: Michelle J. Guerra-Berdis, 67, of California, will be charged by California police with trespass after she allegedly entered an apartment at 316 Fifth St., on Tuesday and refused to leave when asked to by the owner.
Copper stolen: A representative of Mortgage Contract Service told Canonsburg police Wednesday that a home it owns at 120 Oak Spring Road was entered and all the copper pipes were stolen.
CARROLL
Theft arrest: Thomas A. Kovalak, 53, of 23 S. McKean Ave., Donora, was arrested Wednesday by Carroll police on a charge of retail theft after he allegedly stole items valued at $145 from Giant Eagle, Country Club Road. He was arraigned before District Judge David Mark and released from Washington County Jail after posting $5,000 bond.
CHARTIERS
Poles damaged: A representative of West Penn Power told Chartiers police Wednesday that three utility poles were damaged at the intersection of West Pike Street and South Johnson Road.
MONESSEN
Pair charged: Elizabeth Shauna Majors, 31, of 425 Reed Ave, Monessen, and William Pearson, 28, who has two addresses in the city, are each charged by city police with trespassing, conspiracy and criminal mischief, court records show. They are accused of forcing their way into 471 Knox Ave., Apt. 1, about 7 p.m. Tuesday after they were evicted from the apartment. District Judge Joseph Dalfonso signed a warrant Wednesday for their arrests.
Theft allegations: William Pearson, 28, who has two addresses in Monessen, is charged by city police with theft, criminal mischief and disorderly conduct over allegations he stole $100 from a Del Rosa’s Pizza delivery driver about 7:45 p.m. Dec. 27 in the 400 block of Knox Avenue, court records show. District Judge Joseph Dalfonso issued the charges in a summons Wednesday.
SMITH
Assault alleged: Chelsa Hanna Slavik, 25, of 1920 Smith Township Road, Slovan, was charged last week by Smith police with simple assault and harassment for allegedly slamming Bryan Stoothoff in a door during a Jan. 24 confrontation. He was arrested the day of the assault. The charges against Slavik will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Gary Havelka.
SOUTH STRABANE
Two face charges: State police plan to file charges against Jamel Yarbrough, 20, no address provided, and a juvenile after their vehicle was stopped Saturday night by state police on Interstate 79 at the north junction of Interstate 70. Both had marijuana in their possession and the juvenile was driving with a suspended license, police said.
WASHINGTON
Warrant arrest: Latoya Smith, 30, of 1673 Streator Ave., South Strabane Township, was taken into custody Wednesday by Washington police on a bench warrant during a traffic stop on Jefferson Avenue and West Wheeling Street. Smith also will be charged with possession of paraphernalia after she was found with three needles and a crack pipe while being admitted at the Washington County Jail.
WEST BROWNSVILLE
Theft charge: Donna Louise Gillis, 49, of Denbo, was charged with theft Monday by state police. She is accused of stealing money from a Fairchance woman who accidentally dropped it while at the register of a West Brownsville beer distributor. Gillis is accused of picking up the money and putting it in her pocket. The charge was sent by summons from the office of District Judge Joshua Kanalis.
