Monessen man jailed in bar shooting

A Monessen man was arrested Friday by Monessen police on charges including attempted homicide in a Jan. 27 shooting at a Donner Avenue bar.

Tyler Majors, 24, is also charged with aggravated assault, reckless endangerment, person not to possess a firearm and firearms not to be carried without a license.

Majors is accused of shooting a Monessen man during a disturbance at Chateau Lounge, 143 Donner. The alleged victim was taken to a Pittsburgh hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound to the stomach. Mayor Lou Mavrakis said Sunday Majors was identified through surveillance video. He referred other questions to Chief John Manderino, who could not be reached Sunday.

Major was arraigned before District Judge Michael Mahady and placed in Westmoreland County jail on $100,000. He is scheduled for a Feb. 17 hearing before District Judge Joseph Dalfonso.
