Local fire departments receive grants
State Rep. Pam Snyder, D-Jefferson, announced 27 fire departments in her legislative district in Greene, Fayette and Washington counties received grant money from the Fire Company and Volunteer Ambulance Service Grant Program.
The money can be used for a variety of uses, including repairing, building or renovating facilities, purchasing new equipment, training and certification of staff, or to repay debt-related expenses.
“Although they do a tremendous job for our local communities, everyone knows that our volunteer firefighting and EMS organizations face financial challenges,” Snyder said. “They, as well as I, are aware that every penny counts.”
The recipients must still complete and return original signed copies of their grant agreements by May 31 in order to receive the money. Any department that needs help can contact her closest district office.
