Man indicted for bank robbery

A Pittsburgh man was indicted by a federal grand jury Tuesday on charges he robbed six area banks, including one in Washington County.

Gregory Magee, 47, formerly of 90 Jeremias St., is charged with robbing First Niagara Bank, 4073 Washington Road, McMurray, of $9,133 March 31.

He is also accused of robbing banks in Cranberry Township, New Castle, Pittsburgh, Beaver Falls and Monroeville, and faces charges of robbery and armed robbery.

The FBI, Allegheny County sheriff’s office and police departments of Monroeville, Chippewa Township and Peters Township conducted the investigation leading to the indictment.

The law provides for a maximum sentence of not more than 25 years in prison, a fine of $250,000, or both for armed robbery, and a maximum sentence of not more than 20 years in prison, a fine of $250,000, or both for robbery.
