Washington police investigating fight
Washington police are investigating a fight inside a Henderson Avenue bar early Tuesday in which two men were injured.
Police were called just after midnight to the intersection of Allison and Maple avenues for a report of a fight between two men. When they arrived, they found Cameron Martin, 24, of Washington, with cuts to his head and mouth. He refused treatment, but told police he was jumped outside the 50 Yard Line, 105 Henderson Ave. Derek Jones, 31, also of Washington, told police he drove a man who had been injured at the bar to Washington Hospital.
Police went to the hospital and talked with Kinsley Heckard, 36, of Washington, who was being treated for a laceration above his eye. He told police he had no recollection of the fight.
Police went to the bar and saw the bartender had instructed employees to mop up blood. Police said there was no attempt at the tavern to make a call and notify police of the fight. The bartender told police a man she knew as “Cash” started the fight and had pulled out a box cutter before pushing Heckard into the cigarette machine. A woman who had been in the bar said a smaller man also hit Heckard while he was on the floor.
Police will review surveillance video from the bar.
