North Strabane Township firefighters respond to rehab center
A North Strabane Township rehabilitation center began to evacuate patients Friday night after the staff believed the building was starting to fill with smoke.
Township firefighters arrived at Greenery Center for Rehab and Nursing, 2200 Hill Church Houston Road, four minutes after the call was placed at 10:18 and they quickly determine a broken pipe in the boiler room was creating steam, North Strabane fire Chief Mark Grimm said.
Firefighters stopped the leak and turned the problem over the building’s maintenance staff, bringing the evacuation to a halt, Grimm said.
