PITTSBURGH (AP) – High winds have blown across much of Pennsylvania knocking out power to thousands.

Gusts of 55 mph to 60 mph were forecast for the Philadelphia area Monday, after similar winds struck western and central Pennsylvania late Sunday and early Monday.

More than 10,000 customers, most of them serviced by Duquesne Light, were left without power at the peak of the storm Sunday night though crews were working Monday to restore service. More than 3,000 Met-Ed customers were left without power in and around York by the same storm early Monday.

The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory until 6 p.m. Monday for the Lehigh Valley and the Philadelphia area.
