McDonald police will be checking records at the 911 center to determine who made 25 calls Sunday morning falsely reporting a building was on fire on East Lincoln Avenue in McDonald.

Police and firefighters from McDonald, Midway and Sturgeon (Allegheny County) received a call at 10:55 a.m. for a fire.

The caller reported flames could be seen, and while the officer was on his way, he was advised evacuation was in progress.

When the officer arrived, he checked the area but could not see flames or smoke coming from the building. The owner of the building responded and said there were not hazards inside the structure.

Police were not able to speak with the complainant because the call came from an untraceable number.

Police learned the 911 center was called 25 times, with the caller reporting flames could be seen and evacuation was in progress.

The call-taker told police it was believed the call was made by a young child, but the caller told the dispatcher they were 22. Police will obtain a copy of the 911 recording.

Fort Cherry Ambulance also responded.
