Washington police are investigating a robbery of Vocelli Pizza, South Main Street and East Maiden Street, just before closing Friday night.

An employee was working in the back of the store about 11:40 p.m. when she heard an alert someone had entered the store.

The robber walked behind the register and approached her.

She told police he ordered her to open the register, telling her “I don’t want to hurt you.”

The employee told police she never saw a weapon, nor did the robber make any motions to indicate he had a weapon.

As she neared the register, the employee hit a panic button. The robber reportedly said to her, “Are you serious?” Police said the robber took the money from the cash drawer and ran out of the store, going east on East Maiden.

Police said the robber had his face covered with a camouflage bandana or mask. He was white, 25 to 35 years old, about 5 feet, 9 inches tall, weighed 160 to 180 pounds and had light-colored eyes.

He also wore a black coat, a red hat with a brim, blue jeans with holes in the knees and black shoes with white on the bottom. Police will attempt to obtain surveillance video from the shop.

Anyone who might have seen the robber in the area around the time of the incident is asked to call police at 724-223-4226.
