A Nemacolin man who pleaded guilty to exposing himself to a teenager at her school bus stop in November was sentenced last week to 6 to 23 months in jail.

Lawrence Michael Plavi, 36, of 204 Hilltop Court, sat next to an 18-year-old at a bus stop near Roosevelt Avenue in Nemacolin just after 7 a.m. Nov. 16 and asked her if she wanted to smoke crack cocaine out of his pipe.

She said “no” twice before Plavi exposed himself and began touching himself, according to court documents. Police said he asked her to perform sex acts and reached out to pull her closer to him, but the girl ran home to tell her mother.

Plavi was arrested that day near Nemacolin Volunteer Fire Department. When police asked him why he exposed himself to the teenager, he told them, “I thought she was attractive, and I am horny,” police wrote in court documents.

Police said Plavi admitted to smoking crack the night before and early that morning out of a socket from a wrench. He asked police numerous times if he could have his pipe back so he could scrape off the crack residue inside and smoke it, the complaint said.

Plavi pleaded guilty last week to indecent exposure, open lewdness and possession of drug paraphernalia. Charges of criminal attempted involuntary deviate sexual intercourse and criminal solicitation were dismissed.

In his Feb. 14 sentencing order, Greene County Judge Lou Dayich said Plavi’s sentence would run concurrently with a state prison sentence he already is serving in an unrelated case. Following his release, Plavi will also serve two years of probation. Dayich also ordered him to continue taking his mental-health medication.
