Washington police arrest two, get warrant for third
Washington police arrested two people Wednesday and obtained a warrant for a third person after the three allegedly sold guns and a television that were reported stolen from a Victoria Street home last week.
Richard G. Dunfee III, 32, who lists several addresses in Washington, and Kayla McConnell, 27, of McDonald, were taken into custody at a house on Victoria, said police Detective Dan Rush, who filed the charges against the pair. Rush also obtained a warrant for the arrest of Christopher Duncan, 26, of Marianna. All three are charged with theft, receiving stolen property and conspiracy. Dunfee also is charged with false identification to police.
A South Strabane Township woman told police Feb. 16 her mother’s home had been entered and the items were stolen. Police said the back door of the house had been kicked open.
The following day, city police went to a pawn shop on Highland Avenue. They said they determined Dunfee sold a rifle and shotgun for $120, and McConnell sold two guns and a television for $60. Duncan reportedly was with the two at the shop, and police said the three are seen on shop surveillance.
Rush said Thursday he is still investigating the burglary and has a suspect.
Dunfee and McConnell also had charges filed against them this week at the office of District Judge Jay Weller.
Dunfee is charged with retail theft for allegedly stealing items from Walmart, Trinity Point, Feb. 13. He is accused of giving the items to Douglas E. Rowan, 41, of 275 Meadow Ave., Washington, who returned them in exchange for a gift card. Rowan is charged with theft by deception.
McConnell is charged with leaving the scene of a crash, failure to render aid, driving with a suspended license and not having insurance in connection with a Jan. 5 crash on Route 19 at Trinity Point Drive. She is accused of hitting the rear of another vehicle, injuring the driver. After asking if he was OK, she allegedly left the scene before police arrived.
The two were arraigned before District Judge Robert Redlinger. Dunfee was placed in Washington County jail on $10,000 bond. McConnell, who also is charged by city police with possession of paraphernalia in a Feb. 7 case, was placed in jail on a $2,000 percentage bond.
