Police: Man punched Cumberland Twp. officer
A Greensboro man is in jail after allegedly punching a Cumberland Township police officer in the face Saturday morning.
State police investigated a “scuffle” that occurred between a Cumberland police officer and Shane Alex Black, 22.
Police said Black had been stopped on state Route 21 in Cumberland Township for a traffic violation when the Cumberland officer discovered an arrest warrant for Black out of West Virginia.
State police investigator Joseph Popielarcheck said Black resisted arrest and started fighting the Cumberland officer, whom Popielarcheck declined to identify.
“During the course of the arrest, a scuffle ensued and Black punched the officer about the face and body,” Popielarcheck said in his report.
The Cumberland officer then used a Taser on Black and was able to arrest him. State police charged Black with aggravated assault, simple assault, resisting arrest and harassment.
Black is being held in Greene County jail on $100,000 bail. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for 2 p.m. March 8.
