Greene County Police Beat Jan. 4
Drug charges: Robert H. Uphold Jr., 51, of 220 Inwood Ave., Carmichaels, was charged Friday by Cumberland police with possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and resisting arrest. Police said they went to Uphold’s house Feb. 7 for an open burning violation and found in his garage a syringe containing morphine, a small amount of marijuana, needles and empty stamp bags. Police allege Uphold attempted to slam an officer’s hand in a tool box and resisted when they attempted to place him under arrest
Domestic violence: Ralph Allen, 42, of 87 ½ W. Greene St., Waynesburg, was charged with simple assault, harassment and recklessly endangering another person after borough police said he choked a woman during an argument at 12:30 p.m. Monday at his home. The woman told police she was attempting to walk away from Allen when he wrapped his arm around her neck. She told police she briefly became unconscious and fell to the ground. Police said the woman was vomiting blood and had a severe injury to her nose, and she was taken to the hospital for treatment. Allen was arraigned before District Judge Jesse Cramer and released on $5,000 unsecured bond.
