PITTSBURGH (AP) – A Western Pennsylvania man convicted of killing and dismembering his elderly mother and stepfather before putting their body parts into plastic bags has been sentenced to two consecutive life prison terms.

An Allegheny County judge also sentenced 49-year-old Frederick Harris III on Tuesday to two to four years in prison for abuse of a corpse charges.

A jury convicted Harris in the stabbing deaths in September. On Dec. 13, 2014, prosecutors say Harris went to the Penn Hills home of his mother, Olivia Gilbert, and killed the 73-year-old woman and her 76-year-old husband, Lamar.

Harris allegedly killed the couple with kitchen knives, then went to a Home Depot store to buy trash cans he used to store their body parts, which were wrapped in plastic garbage bags.
