Man hit by truck identified
The father of a man who fatally stabbed a police K-9 and was shot and killed by officers in Allegheny County last year was struck by a vehicle in Washington Wednesday evening.
Bruce Kelley Sr., 61, of Wilkinsburg, was crossing the northbound lanes of Jefferson Avenue about 6 p.m. when he was struck by a vehicle driven by Jonathan Imhoff, 26, of McKeesport, who was turning left onto Jefferson from Chestnut Street.
Kelley was transported to Washington Hospital with suspected serious injuries. He was later transported to UPMC-Presbyterian hospital in Pittsburgh. Information about his condition was not immediately available.
Kelley’s son, Bruce Kelley Jr., was shot and killed Jan. 31 by Port Authority of Allegheny County police after he stabbed and killed Aren, a 5-year-old German shepherd. Authorities said the Kelleys were drinking alcohol in a busway gazebo in Wilkinsburg before the shooting.
Bruce Kelley Sr., who has ties to the Washington area, is facing charges including aggravated assault for allegedly fighting with officers during the Jan. 31 confrontation.
Washington police are investigating Wednesday’s accident.
