Snyder, Neuman named to leadership posts
State Rep. Pam Snyder, D-Jefferson, has been named Democratic chairman of the Pennsylvania House Coal Caucus to support and advance the coal industry and its contributions to the state, and state Rep. Brandon Neuman, D-North Strabane, has been named to head a key panel on the state Commission on Sentencing.
“We have new opportunities to bolster a critical part of our energy portfolio and help the industry and its workers,” Snyder said of her Coal Caucus leadership post. “I look forward to working with my Democratic and Republican colleagues to take full advantage our coal resources.”
Snyder joins state Rep. Jeff Pyle, R-Armstrong/Butler/Indiana, at the helm of the caucus, which includes scores of coal-supporting lawmakers.
Snyder earlier in the week was named to the House Environmental Resources and Energy Committee, through which energy-related legislation is channeled.
Neuman was also named to five House committees, including a return to the House Judiciary Committee.
“The appointments to the sentencing panel and Judiciary Committee will aid my efforts to protect domestic abuse victims and first responders and improve testing of evidence from sexual assaults,” Neuman said. “I look forward to the challenges and responsibilities.”
Neuman said he was named chairman of the Offense-Related Guidelines Review Subcommittee of the Pennsylvania Commission on Sentencing by the commission’s executive director.
Neuman’s other House committee assignments are Consumer Affairs, Environmental Resources and Energy, Labor and Industry, and Agriculture and Rural Affairs.
