CALIFORNIA
Assault alleged: Darrin Mackey, 25, of 625 Liberty St., California, is charged by borough police with strangulation, simple assault and harassment over allegations he put his girlfriend, Megan Appel, in a chokehold about 8:45 p.m. Thursday in his residence, court records show. Mackey was placed in Washington County jail on $35,000 bond set by District Judge Larry Hopkins.
CANONSBURG
Woman jailed: Erin E. Gibbons, 24, of Canonsburg, was placed in Washington County jail Friday on charges of aggravated assault, resisting arrest, simple assault, criminal mischief, disorderly conduct, harassment and public drunkenness. According to borough police, Gibbons, who allegedly was involved in a domestic incident with her mother early Friday morning at 8 Breezewood Drive, shoved a police officer, struck him and grabbed his radio, ripping his uniform. She was arraigned before District Judge David Mark and jailed on $50,000 bond. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 26 before Mark.
DEEMSTON
DUI alleged in crash: According to state police, Jason Edward Stay, 19, of Fredericktown, was charged with driving under the influence in connection with a vehicle crash into a home at 413 Ridgewood Drive April 22.
JEFFERSON
Man jailed: James Jeffrey Kinder, 62, of 48 Creek Lane Road, Jefferson Township, is charged by Jefferson police with simple assault and harassment over allegations he struck a woman in the face about 6 p.m. Monday in his residence, court records show. Kinder was placed in Washington County jail on $25,000 bond set Friday by District Judge Larry Hopkins.
SOUTH STRABANE
Woman jailed: Martha May, 47, of 15 N. Main St., Washington, is charged by township police with unsworn falsification and providing false information in an attempt to purchase a firearm about 8:15 p.m. July 22, 2016, at Ace Sporting Goods, 462 Washington Road, court records show. She was placed in Washington County jail on $25,000 bond after being arrested on a warrant and arraigned Friday before District Judge Larry Hopkins.
WASHINGTON
Man charged: Gary Coleman Jr., 24, an inmate in Washington County jail, was charged with harassment for an alleged incident Wednesday in the 300 block of Hillside Avenue. According to Washington police, Coleman was out on work release when he shoved Dana Kelly of Washington and took her keys and cellphone. Charges will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Robert Redlinger.
Items stolen: Troy Steele of Canonsburg reported to Washington police Wednesday floor tiles and a chainsaw were stolen from an apartment on Hall Avenue. Steele told police he believes the items were stolen by a man and woman he had previously allowed to stay in the apartment.
Home burglarized: Bertram Mitchell of the 400 block of East Hallam Avenue reported to Washington police Thursday his home was burglarized overnight. Mitchell said the front door was damaged and a 60-inch television and $9,000 were stolen. He told police he suspects a woman he evicted two months ago is responsible.
Fireworks stolen: An employee of TNT Fireworks, in the parking lot of 735 Jefferson Ave., reported items worth about $450 were stolen Thursday. Surveillance video allegedly shows three men entering the tent about 2:30 a.m. and stealing the items.
Simple asault charge: City police charged Damon Bey, 29, of 37 Linn Ave., with simple assault Wednesday. Police allege Bey was pushing his 15-month-old son in an attempt to put him down to sleep about 12:30 a.m. May 22. He allegedly punched the boy’s mother, breaking her nose, when she tried to pick up the child.
Man charged: City police charged Eric L. Dillie, 44, of 770 W. Chestnut St., with failure to comply with registration requirements as a sex offender Monday. Dillie was listed as being “transient/homeless” but allegedly had spent every night at the same apartment during the period from when he was fitted with a GPS device until June 21, more than a week later. He allegedly failed to notify authorities of the change in his living situation, as required.
Paraphernalia charge: City police charged Stephen Ozarowski, 29, of Pittsburgh with possession of drug paraphernalia Monday. Police said an officer found Ozarowski sitting in the middle of the road near the 600 block of Addison Avenue on the night of June 4. Ozarowski allegedly jumped up, took a fighting stance and appeared not to know what was happening. EMS workers arrived for a medical check, and Ozarowski allegedly produced a hypodermic needle, an empty stamp bag and two remnants of suspected marijuana joints when asked to empty his pockets.
Banking scam alleged: Heather Jo Stewart, 41, of 80 Campbell Ave., was charged Monday with bad checks, access device fraud and forgery. City police allege Stewart wrote checks earlier this month from an account she shares with another person that already was showing a negative balance, deposited them, then quickly withdrew $1,948. Police allege she signed the name of her co-account holder on one of the checks she deposited.
