Theft charge: Thomas Anthony Clipp, 34, of 241 Miller Road, Aleppo, was charged Wednesday by Carroll police with retail theft after he allegedly stole items June 21 from Giant Eagle. Police said they posted surveillance photographs on Facebook and were able to learn his identity. Clipp was taken into custody and confessed to the incident, police said. He was wanted on an Allegheny County bench warrant and released to constables who took him to Allegheny County Jail. Clipp, who police said has five previous retail theft convictions, will be arraigned later before District Judge Larry Hopkins.

Charged in crash: Michael Allen Anderson, 58, of 579 Fifth St., North Charleroi, was charged Wednesday by Carroll police with driving under the influence of alcohol and/or a controlled substance and driving with a suspended license stemming from a one-vehicle crash on Hazelkirk Road. He was taken to Monongahela Valley Hospital for treatment. Blood also was drawn. The charges were sent by summons from the office of District Judge Larry Hopkins.

Truck hits pole: Christopher Wietrzykowski, 42, of Finleyville, escaped injury when the large truck he was driving went off Atlasburg Road and struck a utility pole, breaking it, on June 27, state police said.

Assault charge: Monongahela police charged Robert G. Nardone, 49, with simple assault and harassment in connection with an incident at his home at 234 Patterson Ave. on Wednesday. Police said Nardone’s wife told them he punched her in the head, grabbed her by the neck and knocked her to the ground. Nardone admitted to the incident, police said. He was arraigned before District Judge James Ellis and is free on his own recognizance.

Home entered: Rena Jones of 260 Allison Ave. told Washington police Thursday her home was entered while she slept and items were stolen. She told police that she woke up and noticed items had been moved. Stolen from the home were a Nook, Kindle Fire, red leather cigarette case and a set of keys.

False alarms charge: Henry Lacks of 535 Fayette St. was cited early Thursday for a false alarm violation after Washington police responded to his home for what they said was the third false alarm in the last several days and the 11th in the past 12 months.

Purse, cellphone stolen: Sherry Blake told Washington police Wednesday that her purse containing cash, debit and credit cards and a cellphone was stolen while she was working at the Washington-East Washington Joint Authority office, 2 Wilson Ave. Police said a man wearing a sports jersey entered the rear door, claiming to be making a delivery. He fled when spotted by another employee.
