Cecil, West Pike Run townships bridge construction work delayed
Construction for the Route 50 (Millers Run Road) bridge and Pike Run Road (Route 2036) bridge have been postponed.
Construction on the Pike Run Road bridge, which spans Pike Run in West Pike Run Township, was scheduled to begin during the week of July 3, according to Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.
Work on the Route 50 bridge, which spans Miller Run in Cecil Township, was slated to begin during the week of July 10.
Construction for Pike Run Road bridge is now expected to begin during the week of July 17 and be completed in late September. Drivers will follow a detour along routes 481, 40 and Daisytown Road.
Construction on the Route 50 bridge will begin during the week of July 31 and be completed in late September. A detour along Route 980 and Muse Bishop Road has been established.
The bridges are two out of the 558 bridges being replaced under the Rapid Bridge Replacement Projects, a partnership between PennDOT and Plenary Walsh Keystone Partners. Under the public-private partnership, PWKP will finance, design, replace and maintain the bridges for 25 years, a PennDOT spokesman said.
