Donegal Township police arrested a Wheeling, W.Va., woman Tuesday on robbery and homicide charges from Belmont County, Ohio.

Diane Jean Kuri, 28, whose last known address was on Eoff Street, was taken into custody by police who received a tip about 8 a.m. regarding trespassers at an apartment in the 200 block of Main Street in Claysville. Kuri and two other people were found inside the apartment.

“She was seen going into the apartment building by a witness who called police,” said police Chief John Yancosek. “It was determined she was wanted on a warrant in Belmont County.”

Yancosek said North Franklin Township and state police did a good job, quickly responding to assist township police in taking the three people out of the apartment. Only Kuri was charged, and Yancosek said she was taken into custody without incident.

Kuri knew a resident of the apartment and was just visiting, Yancosek said.

“She was not staying there,” he said.

Kuri was indicted Thursday in Belmont County Common Pleas Court on charges of murder, robbery, aggravated burglary, complicity and obstructing justice. Kuri and several other people are accused of entering a home June 7 in Pultney Township to commit a robbery. She is accused of causing the death of Joshua Gorayeb during the robbery.

According to the website of WTRF-TV in Wheeling, Gorayeb was killed in a shooting that injured another man who allegedly was an accomplice. The injured man and two other men are in custody on homicide charges. The website also indicates that the owner of the home faces drug charges. Police reportedly told the television station that Kuri and the others planned to rob the resident of the home of a large amount of money and drugs.

During her arraignment as a fugitive from justice, District Judge Ethan Ward explained to Kuri that she was being placed in Washington County Jail without bond and will remain there until she is extradited to Ohio. Ward also recommended that she seek legal counsel. The Ohio warrant indicated she is to be arraigned in Belmont County on Thursday.
