Washington to accept treasurer’s resignation
Washington City Council members are scheduled to accept the resignation of treasurer Ryan King during a voting meeting Thursday.
Councilman Joe Manning said King has resigned because he is moving out of the city.
King, son of Washington County Treasurer Francis King, was nominated in May 2016 to fill the post after the retirement of Dennis L. Adams.
Deputy Treasurer Sue Bonus will be acting city treasurer, effective July 5 until January. Barring a write-in candidate in the November election, Democrat Carla Mast, who run unopposed in the primary, will take over.
The treasurer, responsible for tax collection in the city, earns an annual salary of $11,000.
