Wheeling man gets 3 years for having guns

WHEELING, W.Va. (AP) – A 45-year-old man from Wheeling has been sentenced to more than three years in federal prison for illegally possessing guns.

According to federal authorities, Jeffrey Moran was previously convicted of felony drug possession in Ohio County and misdemeanor domestic violence, prohibiting him from having a gun.

He admitted having a .22-caliber pistol, a 12-gauge shotgun and a 20-gauge shotgun in Ohio County in December and pleaded guilty to a single federal charge in May.

The federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the West Virginia Department of Natural Resources investigated.

U.S. District Judge John Preston Bailey ordered the sentence.
