Defense seeks more information before trial in toddler’s death
UNIONTOWN – The attorney for a former Greene County woman charged along with a man in the starvation death of their 23-month-old daughter is seeking additional information for her defense in the upcoming homicide trial.
Twenty-seven-year-old Andrea Dusha and 33-year-old Michael Wright Jr. are charged in Fayette County with criminal homicide, child endangerment and reckless endangerment in the death of Lydia Wright, whom authorities said weighed just 10 pounds when she died in February. An autopsy concluded the cause of death was malnutrition and dehydration.
Attorney Dianne Zerega’s motion seeks complete autopsy and laboratory reports along with “a complete description of the opinions and subject matters” of prospective expert witness testimony.
The couple and three children previously lived in Cumberland Township before being evicted from an apartment in February 2015. They moved to Uniontown and lived there until the girl’s death.
Prosecutors plan to seek the death penalty if first-degree murder convictions are attained.
