City man wanted for attempted homicide
A Washington man is wanted by city police on charges including attempted homicide stemming from a shooting Friday that injured a girl.
City police filed two counts each of attempted homicide and aggravated assault Monday against Jamil Carr, 18, of 782 Broad St., in connection with the shooting at about 1:20 p.m. in the 500 block of Fayette Street, police said.
Police accuse Carr of being among three men and one woman who scattered after the girl, whose name is being withheld, suffered gunshot wounds to her right side and right arm.
The caliber of the weapon was not immediately known.
The victim sought treatment at Washington Hospital and has since been released, police said Tuesday. She is the only person known to have been injured Friday.
Police were alerted to the victim’s identity after she went the hospital’s emergency room Friday for treatment of her wounds.
Five bullet casings were recovered from the scene, police said.
District Judge Robert Redlinger put a 72-hour hold Monday on releasing information about the case against Carr in order to protect witnesses, police said.
