Police Beat July 28
Fleeing court: Joshua D. Stone, 29, of Washington, faces charges of resisting arrest and possession of marijuana after state police said he fled from the courtroom of District Judge Ethan Ward on Wednesday as he was being taken into custody after a preliminary hearing. He was caught, and a bag of suspected marijuana was found in his pocket, police said. He was placed in Washington County Jail on $100,000 bond on his previous charges.
Man jailed: Damen Gamble, 25, of Canonsburg was detained by police Wednesday on several active bench warrants. Officers arrested him at his mother’s South Central Avenue apartment about 10 p.m. Gamble was being held in Washington County Jail.
Charged after traffic stop: Dominick D. Devenney, 19, of Marianna, faces charges of driving under the influence and possession of marijuana after state police stopped his vehicle July 18 on Henderson Avenue. A pipe containing marijauna was found in the vehicle, police said.
Theft alleged: Ethan Vatelle Jones, 28, of 617 Chestnut St., Monessen, is charged by Charleroi Regional police with theft over accusations he accepted $100 from a man in the 800 block of Crest Avenue for a female escort who never showed up. The complaint was filed about 9 p.m. Saturday, court records show. District Judge Larry Hopkins issued the charge by summons Tuesday.
Survey scam: Police said a woman reported a “possible scam call” in which a “foreign-sounding male claiming to be doing a restaurant survey” quickly hung up after getting her name and zip code.
PFA violation alleged: Ronald Chester, 32, of Ellsworth was charged with violating a protection-from-abuse order after he allegedly sent a text message Wednesday to a woman who has an order prohibiting contact, state police said.
Stolen computer: A woman on Wednesday reported a Dell laptop stolen from her apartment on the 100 block of Church Street. She told police she remembered last seeing it a few months ago.
