A Washington man was jailed Thursday for allegedly threatening his neighbor with a machete.

Ronald P. Knochel, 58, of 560 S. Main St., was charged by city police with making terroristic threats against Shawn Kostrej, who lives in the other side of the duplex where Knochel lives.

According to the complaint, Knochel and Kostrej were arguing outside when Knochel went inside and came back out with a rusty machete with a wooden handle. He allegedly told Kostrej he would “cut your heart out and slit your throat.”

Police seized the machete.

Knochel was arraigned before District Judge Ethan Ward and placed in the county jail on $10,000 bond. A preliminary hearing is scheduled Aug. 21 before District Judge Robert Redlinger.
