Police Beat July 30
Crash: State police said an unknown driver fled the scene after crashing into the back of a Freightliner truck on Interstate 70 westbound about 4:40 p.m. Friday. Police said the rig, driven by Isaiah D. Males, 26, of New Matamoras, Ohio, had slowed for traffic that was backed up due to a landslide that was blocking the right lane of the interstate near mile marker 15. The other vehicle had been following too closely at the time of the crash, police said. No injuries were reported.
Crash involves children: State police said driver William D. Andrews, 42, of McDonald, had three passengers in his vehicle, including an 11-year-old and 1-year-old, when he struck the vehicle in front of him on Interstate 79 southbound just before 6 p.m. Friday. Police said Andrews had been following too closely the vehicle in front of him, which was driven by Jing Pratt, 39, of Morgantown, W.Va. No injuries were reported.
