EASTON (AP) – Police are trying to determine whether a 34-year-old Pennsylvania woman was drunk or otherwise intoxicated when her 11-month-old daughter was found unresponsive, under water in a bath tub last week.

The Lehigh County coroner says the little girl, Cassie Montoro, was rushed to a hospital on Thursday and died Friday.

Easton police say the girl’s mother smelled of alcohol, was off-balance and had vomit on the front of her shirt and even nodded off once while speaking with police after the girl was found about 6:45 p.m.

Investigators have obtained a search warrant for the woman’s blood so it could be tested for drugs and alcohol. Police haven’t charged the woman but were continuing to investigate her daughter’s death.
