Police Beat Aug. 1
Simple assault charge: Jay Melvin Leonard, 50, of 320 Market St., Clarksville, was charged by state police with simple assault and recklessly endangering another person after he allegedly pointed a gun at his girlfriend early Saturday. Police said the girlfriend told them she and Leonard argued about 3 a.m. Saturday before he pointed a small handgun at her.
Burglary: State police said they are investigating multiple thefts from sheds and garages in Monongahela Township on Hunting Hills Road near Dilliner and on South Eighty-Eight Road near Greensboro. Police said tools, change, a nail gun, three chainsaws, a push mower, pressure washer, a generator, gas cans and two weed trimmers were stolen by someone early Saturday.
Baby assault alleged: Stanley Joseph Demaske, 32, of 436 Fourth St., Mather, was charged by state police with recklessly endangering another person and two counts each of simple assault and harassment after he allegedly punched a woman and a baby in their faces Saturday morning. Police said that about 8:30 a.m. the woman woke up to feed her baby, when Demaske allegedly punched her in the face. Since she was holding the baby, police said, Demaske’s fist also struck the child, scraping his arm and forehead and bloodying his nose.
