Police Beat Aug. 1
Burglary: A bartender at the French Club, 527 Duquesne Ave., reported finding the door to the club open when she arrived for work Friday. She said someone had cut the lock on the club’s safe. The club’s treasurer put the total money missing at $2,114.
Theft reported: A resident of Ridge Avenue reported Friday migraine medication and a pendant necklace were stolen from her vehicle, which she believed she’d left unlocked overnight.
Attempted theft: A resident of Moon Road told state police he saw a person searching through his parked vehicle about 11:20 p.m. Friday. The resident yelled and the person left. Nothing was stolen.
Harassment charges: Kelley D. Riggle, 30, and Robert Klaus, 27, both of Washington, will be charged with harassment after they got into an argument that led to a physical fight early Sunday at 2398 Jefferson Ave., state police said. The charges will proceed by summons.
Drug charges: Anthony William Stewart, 33, of 210 S. McDonald St., McDonald, was charged by McDonald police with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia after police received a call about a man who was locked in the bathroom at Heritage Public Library for an extended time Friday afternoon. Police said they found the man later on Fourth Street and noticed a “fresh puncture wound” on his arm and other indications he was under the influence of drugs. Police said Stewart told them he injected heroin, and they said they found him in possession of four stamp bags of heroin, four empty stamp bags and a syringe.
Woman wanted: Brandy Leigh Bujanowski, 21, of 809 Fallowfield Ave., Charleroi, is wanted by city police of a charge of theft over allegations she stole $200 from Sherman Aldrich while visiting him about 7 p.m. July 26 in his apartment at Westgate Manor, 848 Donner Ave., court records show. District Judge Charles Christner signed a warrant for her arrest Friday.
Man jailed: Jesse James Donaldson, 30, of 114 Maple Ave., Charleroi, is charged by township police with causing institutional vandalism, theft and trespassing, court records show. Police accuse Donaldson of climbing a fence to get inside a state Department of Transportation shed on Pricedale Road to steal a truck, which was then used to crash through a gate. He also is accused of stealing $47 worth of food from a freezer at a Hampton Inn on Broad Avenue. Police said the crimes took place between 2 and 3 a.m. Friday. Donaldson is in Westmoreland County jail on $25,000 bond set by District Judge Charles Christner.
Man jailed: Evan D. Knopp, 25, whose last known address was in Rochester, Beaver County, was arraigned Friday before District Judge Ethan Ward on charges of possession of marijuana with intent to deliver and drug possession. The charges stem from an allegation by state police he sold a little more than a gram of the drug to a confidential informant outside Waffle House, 255 Murtland Ave., in February 2015. Knopp was jailed on $5,000 bond.
Threat charge: Leroy R. Henderson, 60, of 45 Grove Ave. was charged Friday with terroristic threats after police were called to his home that evening. Henderson’s wife reportedly told police her husband held a knife toward her and threatened her, then barricaded himself in another room until police came and took him into custody. Henderson was arraigned by District Judge Ethan Ward and sent to Washington County jail on $50,000 bond.
Assault charge: Joyce Ann Cole, 50, of 859 Broad St., was charged with simple assault Saturday by city police, who were called to her home that morning. Cole’s live-in boyfriend and a witness reportedly told police Cole threw a jar at the boyfriend’s head and scratched him. Cole was arraigned before District Judge Ethan Ward and jailed on $25,000 bond.
Burglary: A resident of Houston Street reported an apparent break-in Sunday. She told police her house was damaged by flooding. She returned Saturday to retrieve belongings but stayed elsewhere. The next day, she returned to find her back door kicked in. She said her TV was missing from her living room, and pieces of her furniture had been flipped over and cut open. Multiple other items, including appliances, had been smashed. Police said she asked her neighbors if they had seen anything, and they had not.
Assault alleged: Robert Lee James, 27, of 75 E. Walnut St., Washington, is charged by city police with simple assault over accusations he struck John Williams in the head in James’ apartment building about 7:40 p.m. July 18, court records show. The case was brought Monday before District Judge Robert Redlinger.
Assault alleged: Jodi Lynn Smith, 37, of 536 Pike St., Meadow Lands, is charged by city police with simple assault over accusations she struck and scratched Joshua Jimenez about 4:30 p.m. July 7 at 125 W. Beau St., court records show. Police filed the charge Monday before District Judge Robert Redlinger.
Endangerment charges: Robert T. Work, 19, of 31 Highland Ridge Road, West Bethlehem, was charged Friday by summons from District Judge Ethan Ward’s office with propulsion of missiles into an occupied vehicle, reckless endangerment and criminal mischief. State police filed the charges in connection with four incidents June 19 in which Work and a 16-year-old boy allegedly admitted they threw objects from a Jeep sport utility vehicle at various other vehicles in Amwell and West Bethlehem townships.
Assault charge: Dominic C. Noble, 23, of 32 E. Main St., was charged Saturday by state police with simple assault and terroristic threats. A trooper who responded to a report of a fight said Noble’s girlfriend told him Noble hit her with his elbow, pushed her inside the home and told her he would kill her if she called police. Noble was arraigned before District Judge Ethan Ward and placed in Washington County jail on $25,000 bond.
