State Rep. Pam Snyder, D-Jefferson, said her signature was erroneously placed on a letter to the state Turnpike Commission, urging the completion of the Southern Beltway rather than the extension of the Mon-Fayette Expressway to Monroeville.

In the letter, Reps. Bud Cook, R-Daisytown; Matt Dowling, R-Fayette; and Ryan Warner, R-Perryopolis, with eight other state representatives, urged the commission to shift focus and funds from a Monroeville extension of the Mon-Fayette Expressway to completion of the Southern Beltway.

Snyder’s name was placed on the first draft of the letter in error, she said. The final draft of the letter does not contain her signature.

Snyder said she supports both projects, but believes the Mon-Fayette Expressway extension to Monroeville should be completed first. She said completion is vital to Fayette County, eastern Greene County and the entire Mon Valley.

“I have always been a proponent of the leg to Monroeville being built first. I remain steadfast in that,” she said. “I am supportive of the Southern Beltway also, but if we have to choose which one gets done first, my choice is to Monroeville.”
