A Washington man was arrested Tuesday night by state police after he allegedly stabbed a Canton Township man during a confrontation at the victim’s West Wylie Avenue home.

Stephen Silvanus Yarbrough, 25, of 350 Duncan Ave., was taken into custody at his home by Washington police and released to state police.

City police were called about 9:30 p.m. to a business at 501 Jefferson Ave., for a report of a man bleeding from the throat. They found 21-year-old Christopher Holiday, who told them he had been cut with a knife at his home on and forced by a man he identified as Yarbrough to go to Yarbrough’s apartment on Duncan.

Holiday was flown to a Pittsburgh hospital for treatment of wounds to his neck and arms. City police went to Yarbrough’s apartment, took him into custody, and released him to state police.

Yarbrough reportedly went to Holiday’s home and was attempting to retrieve personal items that belonged to his relative that were at the residence. While there, Yarbrough reportedly started asking Holiday about his alleged involvement in the assault of a girl.

Yarbrough reportedly grabbed a kitchen knife and held it to Holiday’s neck, asking him why he assaulted the girl, police stated in court documents. Yarbrough allegedly cut Holiday’s neck with the knife and then removed a box cutting knife from his pocket, using that to stab the Holiday in the upper left and right arms.

Yarbrough was arraigned before District Judge Joshua Kanalis on two counts of aggravated assault and simple assault and one count of reckless endangerment and harassment. He was placed in Washington County Jail on $35,000 bond. A preliminary hearing is set for June 21 before District Judge David Mark.
