A Canonsburg man was ordered to stand trial Tuesday on charges of unsworn falsification and providing false information on an application to purchase a gun after charges against him were refiled.

William Burns Blayney, 53, of 112 Garden St., was initially charged last December by South Strabane Township police Detective Ken Torboli. The charges were dismissed by District Judge Jay Weller during a February preliminary hearing.

Torboli said he was told by the Washington County district attorney’s office to refile the charges against Blayney and did so in April.

Blayney is accused of providing incorrect information while trying to purchase a handgun at Ace Sporting Goods, 462 Washington Road, in January 2016.
