Coast Guard suspends search after woman falls into Lake Erie
ERIE (AP) – The U.S. Coast Guard and other agencies have stopped searching for a Pennsylvania woman who reportedly fell overboard into Lake Erie from a fishing boat driven by her husband.
Authorities have not released the name of the woman who fell when the boat was about 2 ¼ miles northwest of the Presque Isle Lighthouse about 1 p.m. Sunday.
The woman’s husband told authorities he was putting fishing nets into the water when the woman fell into the water.
Crews couldn’t find the woman Sunday and resumed their search Monday, before calling it off late that night.
The search included a helicopter from Guard Air Station Detroit aboard a Dolphin helicopter and a Coast Guard C-130 aircraft from Elizabeth City, North Carolina.
