A 19-year-old Smith Township man was arrested Thursday by township police after he allegedly used his vehicle to chase his mother, who was in her car, from their home in Joffre to the police station on Smith Township Road (Route 18).

Chad Michael Colussy, 19, of 13 Hill Alley, and his mother reportedly had an altercation earlier in the day at a business in McDonald. McDonald police responded and handled the situation.

The two reportedly went home and got into another altercation. Initially, Colussy would not allow his mother to leave the home, police said. When she was able to get out, she got into her car to drive to the police station.

Police indicated in court documents Colussy followed and drove into the opposite lane on Joffre-Bulger Road to pull alongside his mother’s vehicle. He also allegedly almost hit the rear bumper of her vehicle.

Police said Colussy’s mother was in her vehicle when they arrived, crying hysterically. Her son was gone, but he reportedly sent her a text, calling her a name and telling her police would not find him because he was “too smart.” Police later took him into custody.

Colussy was arraigned before District Judge Robert Redlinger on charges of reckless endangerment, harassment, careless driving, reckless driving and following too closely.

He was placed in Washington County jail on a $10,000 percentage bond. Colussy is scheduled for a June 29 preliminary hearing before District Judge Gary Havelka.
