Seniors able to apply for vouchers
Bridgeville area senior citizens will have the opportunity to apply for vouchers from the Senior Farms Market Nutrition Program after state Rep. Jason Ortitay, R-South Fayette Township, and the Allegheny County Area Agency on Aging were able to collaborate.
Ortitay said a 2015 consolidation of senior centers left a void in the area where seniors could apply.
“The county has graciously offered to pilot an one-time opportunity for applicants in our area of Allegheny County,” he said.
Applications will be accepted beginning at 10:30 a.m. today at Goodwill Manor, 601 McMillan St., Bridgeville.
The program provides eligible seniors with $5 checks to use at any participating farmers market to purchase fresh fruits and vegetables.
