West Penn Power workers prepare to stabilize wires Tuesday after a man was shocked and fell from a house on Kenric Avenue in Donora.

DONORA – A construction worker was injured today in Donora when an aluminum ladder he was using came into contact with a power line, shocking him before he fell several feet to the ground.

He was a member of a crew replacing roof shingles and installing new vinyl siding at 93 Kenric Ave. about 12:30 p.m., when the accident occurred.

A neighbor who did not want to be identified said her husband witnessed the accident from their home and he ran to the alley beside the house after hearing the wiring sizzling and a loud sound.

“The people were screaming, ‘Call 911,'” she said.

Neighbors said they did not know the residents of the house.

Emergency crews were called to the scene. A Donora firefighter said the man was flown to an area hospital. Further information was not immediately available.
