California police charge 4 people in crash
California police have charged four people who were in a vehicle when it crashed earlier this month on Crow Street at Lower Street in Long Branch.
The driver, Cody Lee Rose, 18, of Vestaburg, went off the road into a culvert, doing extensive damage to the vehicle in the crash during the early morning hours of June 11, police said. Rose was flown to UPMC-Presbyterian hospital in Pittsburgh.
The three passengers also were injured. Kayleigh Marie Hewitt, 24, of Charleroi, was taken to Monongahela Valley Hospital. Corey James Woods, 20, of Bentleyville, was flown to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh. Preston Salisbury, 19, of Scenery Hill, also was flown to UPMC-Presbyterian.
All four have been charged with false reports to police and possession of drug paraphernalia. Woods and Salisbury also are charged with underage drinking. Rose also is charged with failure to drive at a safe speed, careless driving and reckless driving.
The charges will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Joshua Kanalis.
