Morris couple charged with assaulting each other

A Morris Township couple was arrested by state police after they allegedly assaulted each other during a confrontation at their home Thursday morning.

James Justin Boggs, 33, and Heavenly Thi Boggs, 32, both of 77 Conger Road, were arraigned Thursday night before District Judge Gary Havelka. She is charged with aggravated assault, simple assault and harassment. He is charged with simple assault and harassment.

Heavenly Boggs reportedly left the home after the alleged incident and went to the state police barracks in North Bethlehem Township to report she had been assaulted by her husband. She told police that she went to wake her husband about 7 a.m. When she turned on the lights to wake him, he reportedly got up and started arguing with her. He allegedly bumped her in the chest before pushing and shoving her. He also allegedly grabbed her by the neck.

She told police that she was able to break free and run to the kitchen, where she got a knife. Heavenly Boggs told police she warned her husband not to touch her because she had a knife. She said that when he came at her, she cut him on the arm and head before he wrestled the knife from her. He allegedly started choking her and holding her down until his mother reportedly broke up the confrontation. Police said she had scratches on her face.

Troopers went to the Boggs’ home to talk with James Boggs. They said they found him in bed with a deep, bloody gash on his elbow and a cut on his right ear.

He claimed that his wife was the aggressor, kicking him in the side to wake him up. Police said his mother corroborated his version of what happened.

Both were released from Washington County Jail after posting $10,000 bonds. They are scheduled for a March 14 preliminary hearing before District Judge Ethan Ward.
