Test results: Washington school water safe to drink
Test results from a water sample study show Washington School District’s water is safe to drink.
Two dozen water samples were taken from five buildings across the district by Analytical Services Inc. and sent for testing for lead levels.
Test results show lead levels well below state and federal regulations, the district said in a statement.
School districts served by a public water system are not required to test their water for lead and copper.
In a proactive move, however, Washington School District decided last month to have its water tested after lead was found in the water of some schools across the country, including Pennsylvania schools. The district wanted to alleviate any concerns about the water in the district’s buildings.
Water from fountains and sinks was tested at Washington Park Elementary School, Washington. High School, the fieldhouse at Wash High Stadium, the central office administration building and Clark School building, which houses the Intermediate Unit 1’s Clark campus.
The testing was completed with grant money the district secured.
