Charleroi man arrested, accused of burglarizing in-laws’ residence
A Charleroi man was arrested Sunday night by Charleroi Regional police after he was reportedly caught on a trail camera burglarizing his in-laws home last week.
Daniel Fisher II, 37, of 719 Lincoln Ave., was taken into custody after his mother-in-law called police and said her son-in-law was the one who had been breaking into their residence at 725 Lincoln while they were not home. She told police she reviewed the images on the camera she had hidden inside her house. She discovered Fisher was the culprit who had been in her house Monday afternoon about 15 minutes after she left, according to court documents.
One image reportedly shows Fisher grabbing one of the trail cameras. His mother-in-law also told police $330, two diamond necklaces and prescription medication were stolen from the home.
Police learned Fisher was at his home sleeping. Officers were allowed into the home and found him on a couch. Police said Fisher started to cry, telling them “I’m sorry. I regretted doing it right after each time I did it.” He also reportedly apologized to his in-laws.
Fisher told police he broke in so he could purchase things for his son. He also reportedly admitted to being addicted to narcotics.
Fisher was arraigned before District Judge Curtis Thompson on charges of burglary, criminal trespass, receiving stolen property and theft. He was placed in Washington County jail on $15,000 bond. Fisher is scheduled for a March 30 preliminary hearing before District Judge Larry Hopkins.
