Nemacolin man facing 46 theft charges put in ARD program
WAYNESBURG – A Nemacolin man, accused in 14 different criminal cases involving thefts from unlocked cars in Cumberland Township, was entered into an accelerated rehabilitative disposition program following a hearing Tuesday in Greene County Court.
Chip Riley, 28, of 3 Diaz Ave., was arrested in October on dozens of theft and receiving stolen property charges for allegedly stealing numerous items from multiple cars across the township. Some of the stolen items include GPS units, hand tools, cellphones, cash, cameras and sunglasses.
In all, Riley faced 46 theft charges, 15 receiving stolen property charges and eight loitering and prowling at night charges.
Assistant District Attorney Andrew Locke said no restitution was necessary in any of the 14 cases since all of the items were recovered by police.
Riley, who has been in jail since October, was released Tuesday and will have to complete the two-year program, which is a pre-trial intervention for nonviolent offenders.
