A Hanover Township man faces numerous counts of receiving stolen property, along with theft charges and weapons charges filed against him Monday by township police and officers from two Allegheny County police departments who had thefts in their jurisdictions.

Levi Donald Stroud, 21, of 389 Steubenville Pike, is charged with 26 counts of receiving stolen property, six counts of theft from a vehicle, five counts of person not to possess a firearm and two counts of illegal sale of weapons.

Police from Hanover were called to Stroud’s home earlier this year during a compliance check by Washington County adult probation. Probation officers called police after reportedly finding two handguns in the home, one reported stolen in West Virginia and the other stolen from Findlay Township.

Police then obtained a search warrant for the home from Washington County Court Judge Gary Gilman. Inside the home, police said they found numerous stolen items. Police said Stroud later admitted to stealing items in Hanover, Findlay and Moon townships, and in Midway.

Findlay police were called Nov. 10 to a housing plan in Clinton after a resident reported vehicles were entered. Among the items stolen were a .357 Magnum revolver and a 9 mm handgun. Also reported stolen were designer sunglasses, headphones and other items. Surveillance footage from a camera at one of the homes showed a person in a hooded sweatshirt entering a vehicle in a driveway about 3:30 a.m.

A month later, more vehicles in the same plan were entered. One of the items stolen was a Hollister & Co. sweatshirt that was returned to the Hollister store at the Mall at Robinson. Stroud was identified as one of three people involved in the return.

In January, Moon police had a vehicle registered to Stroud under surveillance when vehicles were entered in a housing plan. The stolen items there were valued at $3,455, police said in court documents.

Stroud has been in Washington County jail on a probation violation since Feb. 7.

The charges were filed at the office of District Judge Gary Havelka. A preliminary hearing is set for April 20 before Havelka. Stroud also will have hearings that day on a theft charge filed against him by Hanover police and a false reports charge filed by state police.
