Peters Township interviews firms to consult on property
Peters Township could hire a consultant to help develop a master plan for the township’s portion of the former Rolling Hills Country Club property as soon as the next council meeting.
Members of council and the parks and recreation board met Monday to interview representatives from three firms: JTSA Sports, HRG and Mackin Engineering Co. Township manager Paul Lauer said further discussion is planned for the March 27 council meeting with the hope of awarding a contract that evening, unless additional information is needed.
Drafting a master plan for Peters Hill Park, which is to take up slightly less than half of the 190-acre Rolling Hills site, will address recreational opportunities including the potential for aquatics, which consistently has been a popular choice in community surveys regarding what activities residents would like to see offered.
Michele Harmel, parks and recreation director, said each of the consulting firms has partnered with aquatics facilities specialists to aid in the process.
Aspects to be examined include reviewing various types of facilities, costs of construction and maintenance, and “whether it’s a good fit for Peters Township,” Lauer said.
The former Rolling Hills property is divided between the township and Peters Township School District, which is examining the possibility of constructing a new high school at the site.
