Driver charged: Dominque Desiree Moody-Campbell, 23, of Monroeville, was charged by state police Tuesday with two counts of failure to properly restrain children and one count each of possession of marijuana and paraphernalia and disorderly conduct. Police said she was stopped March 4 on Interstate 79 northbound after a trooper spotted two children, later determined to be ages 4 and 7, standing and moving freely about her vehicle as it traveled on the highway. The charges were sent by summons from the office of District Judge David Mark.

Assault arrest: Gary John Brown, 50, of 135 Union St., New Eagle, was arrested Wednesday by Monongahela police on a charge of simple assault after he allegedly grabbed his girlfriend and threw her through a closed bedroom door during a confrontation. He was arraigned before District Judge Joshua Kanalis and placed in Washington County Jail on $5,000 bond.

Charged in crash: Sunni Marie Komaniak, 26, of 813 Poplar St., Canonsburg, was charged Monday by state police with possession of marijuana and paraphernalia, reckless endangerment, failure to stay in the correct lane, leaving the scene of a crash and failure to notify police after a Jan. 21 crash on Interstate 79 southbound near the Canonsburg exit in North Strabane. She allegedly left her vehicle, which was blocking the left lane, and went to her mother’s home. The vehicle was then hit by another vehicle. The charges will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Jay Weller.

Garage burglarized: Gary VanVoorhis of 1002 Valley Road, Robinson, told McDonald police Monday that a Stihl chain saw, reciprocating saw, hammer drill and a 12-volt drill were stolen in a burglary of his garage.

Drug charges: Nathan R. Oliverio, 31, of 655 Manifold Road, South Strabane, was arraigned Monday before District Judge Jay Weller on charges filed by township police of possession, delivery and possession with intent to deliver heroin and criminal use of a communications facility. Police said Oliverio was contacted at his home March 31, 2015, by a confidential informant who made arrangements to purchase the drug. Police said they obtained a search warrant for his home and found the cash used to make the purchase and cellphones. He waived his charges before Weller Monday. Oliverio is free on his own recognizance.

Warrant arrest: Tyrique L. Walker, 21, of Pittsburgh, was taken into custody Tuesday by South Strabane police on a probation detainer from Allegheny County after he allegedly attempted to purchase a firearm at Ace Sporting Goods. He was placed in Washington County Jail and transferred to Allegheny County Jail.

Theft arraignment: William Matsko III, 29, of 520 Second St., California, was arraigned Thursday before District Judge Jay Weller on a felony charge of retail theft after he allegedly stole items valued at $148.98 from Walmart, Trinity Point, on Friday. Weller set bond at $5,000 on Matsko, who is in Washington County Jail on other charges.

Shots fired: Washington police were called about 10:45 p.m. Wednesday for a report of shots fired. Police are not sure of the target of the gunfire. They found two 9 mm casings in the intersection of Addison Street and Baird Avenue.

Windows broken: Neil Dunmore and Rose Bova, who both live on Donnan Avenue, told Washington police Wednesday that windows were broken on their vehicles.

Man bilked: A Washington man told Washington police Wednesday that he was bilked out of about $7,500 after he deposited a check purportedly sent in advance of a $550,000 prize from Publishers Clearing House. He was reportedly directed to purchase $3,000 in prepaid Visa cards and mail them to a New York address. He used the remaining money for other items before learning the check he had deposited was bogus, police said.
