Legislation introduced by Rep. Rick Saccone, R-Elizabeth, that would add two new decorations to the list of existing medals, badges and awards conferred by the commonwealth for heroic civilian and military service passed the state House on Tuesday.

The two new decorations are the Pennsylvania Medal of Achievement and the Pennsylvania Veterans Service Award. The Pennsylvania Medal of Achievement would be ranked fifth, under the Pennsylvania Commendation Medal, and the Pennsylvania Veterans Service Award would be ranked 13th, under the Pennsylvania Outstanding Aeronautical Achievement Award.

Saccone’s legislation, House Bill 165, would authorize the two new decorations which would be presented by the governor. The bill now goes to the Senate.
