N. Franklin man sentenced to prison
A former North Franklin Township man was sentenced to a total of four to nine years in state prison in two separate cases involving a firearms violation and a fire he set at his grandmother’s home in Eighty Four.
Eli S. Daniels, 20, pleaded guilty Friday to arson and persons not to possess a firearm before Washington County Judge Michael J. Lucas.
Daniels was arrested Sept. 23 after officers from the county juvenile probation department and North Franklin Township police found a .38-caliber revolver under a mattress of his Grove Avenue home. Daniels was barred from having a firearm because of a 2015 conviction in Cambria County Court for felony assault by a prisoner.
While Daniels was in custody, state police charged him Oct. 20 with arson, saying he’d admitted using gasoline to set a fire at his grandmother’s Mancha Street mobile home that caused heavy smoke damage before Cokeburg firefighters arrived to put it out.
