WAYNESBURG – A Washington County man accused of threatening a Waynesburg police officer last year was acquitted by a jury Friday of terroristic threats, but found guilty of summary offenses.

Christopher Scott Smith, 37, of 180 Old Scales Road, South Franklin, was charged March 10, 2016, with terroristic threats, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness after borough officers said he fought another man that night at 58 Woodland Ave. in Waynesburg. Police also said that he threatened an officer during his arrest.

The jury acquitted him of the misdemeanor terroristic threats charge, but found him guilty of disorderly conduct and public drunkenness, both of which are summary offenses. Greene County Judge Lou Dayich ordered Smith to pay all court costs as his sentence.
