Work on South Main to begin
The third and final phase of Washington’s streetscape improvement project is scheduled to resume Monday.
Work on South Main Street, from Railroad Street to Park Avenue, is expected to conclude by the end of June.
The project includes installation of new sidewalks, lighting, and stormwater inlet and pipe improvements to alleviate flooding. New traffic signals will be installed at the intersections of South Main and South streets and South Main and Park Avenue.
Funding for the $1.5 million downtown revitalization was secured with a combination of local share account, Department of Community and Economic Development, Southwest Pennsylvania Commission and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers money.
