MONESSEN – Monessen police claim to have found 34 bags of marijuana-laced gummy bears near a baby bassinet Wednesday after officers were summoned to a city residence about a man who was wanted for a state parole violation.

Other drugs, including two stamp bags of heroin and marijuana-laced cotton candy, were allegedly seized from the 543 Summit Ave. home of Zachary A. Lawson, court records show.

Lawson, 31, gave police permission to search his residence after officers were summoned there about 6:15 a.m. by state parole agents, according to the affidavit supporting the criminal charges.

The residence was searched after an agent discovered a small amount of suspected crack on a bedroom dresser, court records allege.

Police also seized $6,038 from the residence along with a bottle of lemonade-flavored, marijuana-laced syrup near the bassinet. A marijuana-laced bath bomb toiletry also was seized from the residence.

Some of the marijuana-laced products were labeled as candy and within the reach of two young children living in the residence, police claim.

Police sent Lawson to Westmoreland County jail on a parole violation stemming from his having served time for a conviction in a 2013 Washington County drug case.

He is expected to be arraigned Friday before District Judge Joseph Dalfonso on charges filed Thursday of drug possession with intent to deliver, drug possession and endangering the welfare of children.
